Described Video provides a narrated description of a TV program’s main visual elements, such as settings, costumes, actions and on-screen text. The narration is added during pauses in dialogue, and enables people with vision loss to form a mental picture of the program.

AMI-tv

AMI-tv, a world first, makes television accessible to Canadians who are blind, with low vision or otherwise disabled. AMI-tv broadcasts a wide range of popular programming—movies, series, specials, current affairs and original AMI programs—that can be enjoyed by everyone. All shows feature Open Described Video and Closed Captioning. Just tune in to channel 48, part of the basic digital TV package offered by Bell Satellite TV. AMI also offers a Described Video (DV) Guide. The DV Guide is accessible on the AMI website or by calling the call centre at 1 855 855-1144.

AMI-audio

AMI-audio is the world's largest broadcast reading service, making local, national and international news and information accessible to Canadians who are blind, with low vision or otherwise disabled. Daily, AMI volunteers read and record current articles from leading newspapers and magazines, which are broadcast on TV and online. AMI-audio also broadcasts original programs and Described Audio presentations of top movies and TV shows. AMI-audio is available on channel 49 and 967 on Bell Satellite TV and channel 49 on Bell Fibe TV.

Canal M, la radio de Vues et Voix

Canal M is a 24-hour French-language newspaper and magazine reading service. Its mission is to make the printed word accessible for persons who are blind or print-disabled. The service also airs original programming. Canal M is available on channel 13 and 949 on Bell Satellite TV and channel 13 on Bell Fibe TV.
