Bell's Server Replication service means Enterprise-class continuous availability on a mid-market budget
Bell is the first major Canadian provider to offer continuity availability for business servers
Montréal, September 17 - Bell today announced that it is the first major provider in Canada to offer a server replication service that will enable mid-sized customers to ensure continuous availability of applications and data, even in the event of a critical systems failure or disaster. The Bell Server Replication service trumps current online backup solutions with an effective high-availability solution previously only available on custom-built enterprise-class dedicated hardware and software systems.
Bell's Server Replication service is delivered in a Software as a Service (SaaS) model, meaning no capital investment is required, a real plus in the current economic environment, particularly for mid-sized companies.
Bell's new server replication service features:
- SaaS-based, data protection via real-time WAN replication of file servers and databases for Windows Servers, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft IIS, BlackBerry and Oracle.
- Application availability via failover and failback for file servers, Exchange, SQL, IIS and Oracle.
- Continuous data protection that provides data recovery in the event of isolated data corruption episodes.
- Site compliance through fully automated, scheduled tests without disrupting the production environment or existing data protection.
- Provisioning and deployment in days from start of customer management, replication and reporting.
"This service gives our clients Enterprise-class protection on a mid-market budget," said Stéphane Boisvert, President, Bell Business Markets. "Clients are therefore able to free up capital budget for operating expenses. And because it scales rapidly and easily, the Server Replication service expands as the client's business grows."
SaaS-based services are the fastest growing segment of the hosting marketplace with growth projected to be as much as 40% over the next three years.
For any company, ensuring business continuity is a top priority, whether the firm is concerned about mitigating hardware or application failures, premises power outages, office moves or natural disasters that interrupt access to data and applications. Previously, system-level replication was expensive, and targeted at large multi-national corporations. Bell's Server Replication service provides Enterprise-class protection on a budget.
"Bell's Server Replication service is a SaaS-based platform that provides real-time replication with minimal downtime, plus instantaneous failover and failback features. And all the customer needs is a high-speed Internet connection," said Mr. Boisvert
"SaaS-based products will become the norm in the near future as companies leverage the economies of scale of a hosted service versus traditional software licensing models," said Mr. Boisvert. "Bell offers smaller to mid-sized customers in particular affordable peace of mind when it comes to managing operational risk."
