The Device Return Option from Bell is a great way to get the latest premium devices at a lower monthly cost on Canada’s best network.1 You have the option to lower your monthly device payments by agreeing to return your device in good working condition at the end of your Service Agreement. If you decide to keep your device instead, you simply pay back the Device Return Option Deferred Amount.;
How the Device Return Option works:
Financed taxes are payable alongside your 24 monthly device payments and on your Device Return Option deferral amount (if you keep your phone).
At the end of the 2-year term, pay $490, (0% APR) or return your phone in good working condition. Taxes on the financed device amount (before deferred amount) are payable with your monthly device payments.
Good working condition means the phone must turn on and navigate properly to the home screen; the keyboard and/or touchscreen are responsive and functional; the display and body are free of any visible chips, cracks, missing parts, dead pixels or dark spots; the battery and battery cover must be included; and the device is returned with the activation lock turned off and no longer linked to any associated cloud account.
Return eligibility
- The device powers on, charges and navigates properly to the home screen.
- The keyboard and/or touchscreen is responsive and functions properly.
- The device is free from apparent physical damage (e.g., bending, cracks, punctures to any part of the device, including the screen, keyboard or the camera lens).
- There are no missing components (e.g., buttons, keys, SIM/media tray, battery, battery cover).
- All activation/security locks for the device are turned off and no longer linked to your associated cloud account, such as “iCloud Find my iPhone Activation Lock” (for Apple devices) and “Activation Lock Protection” (for Android devices).
- Any PIN/password, facial recognition or fingerprint lock has been removed.

If you end your Bell SmartPay Agreement or Service Agreement early, or you change your rate plan to a non-eligible rate plan, your remaining device payments (based on the full monthly amount before discount in the case of any promotions) will become due immediately and you will be subject to an early cancellation fee for your Service Agreement.
