As of July 1, 2010, provincial sales taxes in Ontario and British Columbia will be combined with the federal Goods and Services Tax (GST) into a single Harmonized Sales Tax (HST). Since Bell services are billed in advanced, customers may see the new HST on their bill as early as late May.
The overall amount of taxes collected on most communications services will remain the same. However, sales tax on Internet services in Ontario will reflect the full HST (not just GST).
