Q: 1. What is NumberShare™?
A: NumberShare™ allows a connected device and a smartphone to share the same phone number. NumberShare is currently available with iPhones and Apple Watch Series 3 watches. When a device is paired with a smartphone, it will be able to share the voice, text and data from the smartphone’s rate plan.
Q: 2. What is required to set up NumberShare™ on my Apple Watch Series 3 watch?
- An Apple Watch Series 3 watch
- A Bell Mobility postpaid wireless account (consumer or small business) with a compatible Bell Share plan. The Share plan must include unlimited Canada-wide or Canada-U.S. calling.
- An iPhone SE, 6, 6s, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus or newer. The phone must be operating on iOS 11 or newer.
- A MyBell profile associated with the primary iPhone number. Register for MyBell if you haven’t already done so.
Q: 3. How much does NumberShare™ cost?
A: There is no additional cost for the NumberShare™ add-on. The NumberShare™ add-on is included in the $5/month Smartwatch plan, which allows you to share your existing smartphone voice, data and text allotment with your Apple Watch Series 3 watch.
Q: 4. Can I use NumberShare™ on my Apple Watch Series 3 watch with non-Bell iPhones?
A: No, both devices must be activated on the Bell network for NumberShare™ to work.
Q: 5. Which other SIM-enabled accessories can I use with NumberShare™?
A: Currently, only Apple Watch Series 3 is compatible with NumberShare™. In the future, Bell will provide a larger selection of connected devices that will be compatible with NumberShare™.
Q: 6. How many devices can I use NumberShare™ with?
A: You can share your Bell smartphone number with up to five Apple Watch Series 3 watches.
Q: 7. Can I share my number with other smartphones or my landline?
A: No, NumberShare™ only allows you to share your phone number with a secondary mobile device that is paired with a compatible smartphone.
Q: 8. Can I use the NumberShare™ feature across Canada?
A: NumberShare™ works in any VoLTE-covered region in Canada. We have VoLTE coverage in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Québec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, P.E.I, Newfoundland and Labrador, Yukon and Northwest Territories (excludes Saskatchewan and Nunavut). Learn more about VoLTE
Q: 9. Can I use NumberShare™ outside of Canada?
A: No, you currently cannot roam with your Apple Watch Series 3. You can continue to use your smartwatch with Bluetooth while travelling to make and receive calls, and to send and receive text messages. For more information on travelling with your smartphone and roaming, visit bell.ca/roaming.
Q: 10. Do my devices need to be close to each other for NumberShare™ to work?
A: No, they do not. You can use NumberShare™ on your Apple Watch Series 3 even if your iPhone is in a different location or turned off.
Q: 11. How do I set up NumberShare™?
A: You’ll be prompted to set up NumberShare™ when you first pair your Apple Watch Series 3. If you decide not to set it up right away, you can always return to do it later. View a step-by-step guide on how to activate mobile service and NumberShare™ on your Apple Watch Series 3.
Note: you must be within Canada to complete the initial set-up process.
Q: 12. Where does my data usage for my Apple Watch Series 3 show up on my bill?
A: As part of the activation process you’ll receive a 10-digit device identifying number for your Apple Watch Series 3. Associated data usage will appear on your bill under this number.
Q: 13. I’ve changed the phone number on my iPhone that’s paired to my Apple Watch Series 3 and NumberShare™ has stopped working. What do I do?
A: Your Smartwatch plan must be reactivated. To do so, please follow these steps:
- Open the Watch app on your iPhone
- Select “Cellular” from the “My Watch” tab
- Tap on the “i" button to the right of the Bell item
- Select “Manage” to open the Bell web page
- Select “Reconnect cellular service on my watch”
- Tap the “Reconnect” button
Q: 14. How do I stop sharing my number with my Apple Watch Series 3?
A: To stop sharing your phone number with your Apple Watch Series 3, you’ll need to deactivate your monthly Smartwatch plan with NumberShare™. Please call 1 800 667-0123, or dial *611 from any Bell mobile device, to have one of our agents assist you.
Please note that if you cancel your monthly Smartwatch rate plan, you’ll no longer be able to take advantage of the cellular features of Apple Watch Series 3: you’ll only be able to use your watch over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Q: 15. I have purchased a Apple Watch Series 3 from the Apple Store. How do I activate it with NumberShare™?
