Voice and Video over LTE

Introducing Voice and Video over LTE from Bell.

What is Voice and Video over LTE?

Voice and Video over LTE is the next generation of voice and video calling. Before the launch of Voice and Video over LTE, voice calls were made over the Bell HSPA network. When you used data during a call, data would operate on HSPA speeds.

Now, with Voice and Video over LTE technology, you can:
  • Make a voice call and stay on LTE data speeds while you multitask
  • Make and receive voice and video calls with improved voice quality
  • Switch between voice and video during calls

What you'll need

To take advantage of Voice and Video over LTE on the Bell network, you will need:

  • A compatible device
  • An eligible rate plan with data and an LTE or 5G SIM card
  • Voice and Video over LTE network coverage

Voice and Video over LTE is activated automatically; you don’t need to change your phone settings. To see if Voice and Video over LTE is working, just look for the “LTE” icon on the status bar during a voice or a video call.

Coverage area

Voice and Video over LTE is available in select areas of Ontario, Québec, Atlantic Canada, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, British Columbia, Alberta, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Yukon, and while roaming in the U.S (including Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands) and several international destinations on select devices. It will expand to other regions in the near future.

Voice and data usage

Voice calls over LTE: voice minutes are charged the same way as before; that is, they are deducted from the minutes available in your rate plan. Additional long distance charges may apply.

Video calls over LTE: video calls use data and voice minutes. Data is charged at standard data rates; that is, data is deducted from the usage available in your rate plan or add-on, or charged at pay-per-use rates as applicable. Voice minutes used in video calls are deducted from the minutes available in your rate plan.
